Chalvedon Boys Football Club offers Association Football to young people from the Basildon, Pitsea and surrounding areas of Essex - an objective it has attained in each of the 30+ years since it's inception. Affiliated the The Essex County Football Association, and being recipients of the FA Charter Standard Award in October 2003, the club provides FA qualified coaching in a safe and educated environment for it's members.
The club was formed back in 1975, with the inaugural committee meeting being held at Tarpots Hall. The first ever club committee was formed on that night by the following pioneers; R.Jones (Chairman), K.Ramage (Secretary), D.Johnson (Treasurer), D.Parsons (Entertainment & Funds) and K.Malliff (Team Manager). Agenda items that were deliberated were the site of the clubs home pitch (this was on a small piece of land on the site of St. Gabriels Church in Rectory Road), player subscriptions (was agreed at 15p per week) and club colours (white shirts, blue shorts and red socks). Subsequent venues for the Club committee meetings were held at Bowers FC and more recently at The Eversley Centre, Pitsea.
During the late 1970's and early 1980's, the Club held an annual tournament - "The Howard Pembroke Annual Memorial Trophy" which was donated by the Royal British Legion of Pitsea. Local teams such as Methane Boys, Swan Mead and Holy Trinity were regularly represented.
The Club have also competed against teams in Europe - They played in Holland in 1979 against RKSV Sylvia and hosted German opposition in 1981, in addition to the more recent tour to The Amsterdam Cup where four of our teams competed in 2006.
The club's first year saw one Under 9's team in action, but it has steadily grown into a club capable of providing football for all youth age groups.
The ground at the site of St. Gabriels church in Rectory Road was soon outgrown by the number of teams involved with the Club, and were offered the use of the pitch at Trenham Avenue (circa 1981) off of Tyefields - also in Pitsea. This ground is still used by our mini-soccer teams to date.
Over the last few seasons we have developed an under 6 soccer school. This is to encourage youngsters to attend training sessions to participate in football related excercises as they learn the sport together - all in preparation for their exhibition soccer years at under 7's, under 8's and beyond.
